MBX Biosciences Appoints Jeff Held as Chief Legal Officer

MBX Biosciences has named Jeff Held, J.D., as its new Chief Legal Officer, bringing more than three decades of legal and compliance leadership to the precision peptide therapy company.

The firm is one of the few clinical‑stage biotechs explicitly focused on precision peptide therapies for endocrine and metabolic disorders. Its proprietary PEP™ platform underpins a pipeline that includes canvuparatide (MBX 2109) in Phase 3 for chronic hypoparathyroidism and several obesity candidates.

As peptide‑based drugs move deeper into late‑stage trials and toward commercialization, the addition of a seasoned legal executive signals MBX’s preparation for regulatory filings, intellectual property protection, and potential licensing deals — all critical steps for peptide companies seeking to compete in a crowded metabolic market.

A Veteran Legal Executive Joins MBX

Held most recently served as Chief Legal Officer at Zenas BioPharma, where he oversaw legal and compliance functions and played a key role in financing and licensing transactions. Before that, he was General Counsel at Deciphera Pharmaceuticals, helping scale the company into a global commercial‑stage biotech, leading over $1 billion in equity financings, and co‑leading its $2.4 billion acquisition by Ono Pharmaceutical. His career also includes senior roles at Proteostasis Therapeutics, HeartWare, and 3Com Corporation, as well as corporate law practice at leading firms.

MBX CEO Steve Hoerter praised Held’s track record, noting his experience guiding companies through critical milestones from research stage to commercialization. “Jeff’s leadership will be invaluable as we continue to advance our pipeline of clinically validated, proprietary Precision Endocrine Peptides™ and seek to capitalize on the opportunities ahead,” Hoerter said.

Equity Inducement Grant

In connection with his appointment, MBX granted Held an inducement equity award under Nasdaq rules. The package includes stock options to purchase 89,250 shares at $60.93 per share, vesting over four years, and 19,125 restricted stock units vesting in equal installments over four years.

Held himself emphasized the company’s mission: “What drew me to MBX is its clear commitment to improving the lives of people impacted by endocrine and metabolic disorders. I look forward to partnering with the team to help advance the company’s strategic priorities and bring innovative therapies to patients.”
